EV chargers – are you ready for the future?

Over the past few years, the gear shift towards more environmentally friendly car options has become very important. The rising prices of diesel and petrol and their contributions to the climate crisis have driven the market towards electrical vehicles and green energy, with more EV chargers appearing in public and domestic settings everyday.

With the government wanting to achieve Net Zero by 2050, everyone, including Independent Electrical Wholesalers, have to play a part in achieving this goal.

The question is, are YOU ready to embrace the future?

Why electric?

Early EV models came under scrutiny, due to their lack of efficiency, concerns over manufacturing, and battery sources. However, as technology continues to advance, so too does the rise in EV’s in the domestic market.

Electric cars are designed to be less damaging to the environment; from how they are built, to the way they run. Whilst traditional cars guzzle diesel and other fossil fuel subsidies – emitting gratuitous amounts of harmful carbon dioxide – EVs are battery-powered, so no harmful emissions released into our planet’s atmosphere!

Traditional vehicles also generate large amounts of noise pollution – another contributor to climate change. No such thing with EVs!

Whilst not completely emission-free, EVs only emit on average three times less carbon dioxide than petrol or diesel cars. This statistic takes into account the impact of driving, electricity generation used to power the EV and the manufacturing production.

How EV charging helps the National Grid?

We can’t prove EV vehicles are better for our planet than traditional vehicles without looking at their impact on the National Grid.

In a perfect world, EV chargers, both at home and in public, would be charged by solar power. This use of reusable energy would see electric vehicles become completely emission free. But until then, while many homes still rely on the national grid to provide energy for their home, EV owners can become more energy efficient by undertaking smart charging.

What is smart charging?

Smart-charging is a step EV owners can take to create greener energy, and reduce their energy bills if they rely on the national grid for their energy needs.

Having an EV charger installed means you benefit from lower charging costs if they charge their electric car at times when the national grid is in less demand.

It usually comes into effect during the late evening and/or overnight when the demand on the grid reduces and the electricity supplier reduces its tariff.

IEW installing EV chargers benefits Yorkshire owners and businesses, who can take advantage of the lower electricity rate and reduce the strain on the National Grid.

We at IEW can help Sheffield and the local community go greener with our range of EV chargers from  Ohme. Click HERE  to help yourself, and your colleagues be ready for the future!
